Crieff

In 1994 a small group of like minded people got together with the intention to clean and brighten up the town of Crieff and make it a more colourful place to live in and to visit – CRIEFF in LEAF was born!

Since then the group has refurbished the War Memorial Garden, transformed the Jubilee and Bridgend Gardens, and developed a working base at Alichmore with polytunnels and composting facilities. When not being used by Crieff in Leaf, the tunnels are utilised by another local group called The Springwell Project. This year we have raised funds to improve the tunnels with the addition of timber staging to provide more space and rainwater collection for sustainable watering.  Every year, we grow on up to 7000 small plants for our hanging baskets, troughs, tubs and towers. These are then placed around the town.

We have also recently liaised with Perth and Kinross Council to replant the gardens in James Square and we plant and maintain a further three flower beds at Dalvreck, Dollerie Terrace and the junction of Milnab Street and Sauchie Road.

We also provide winter colour planting the beds at Gallowhill and various troughs around the town.

A recent project was to update the troughs in the High Street – these were pink concrete requiring maintenance, especially after winter. These troughs now have new wooden surrounds, greatly improving the appearance of the High Street and attracting much positive comment.

Funds are raised at coffee mornings and bag packs often held at our busiest planting times! We are also well supported by local businesses, national businesses with interests in the town and donations from private individuals.

Future projects include developing a wildlife garden in part of Bridgend Garden and updating our polytunnels.

Crieff in Leaf also enters the Take a Pride in Perthshire Competition each year winning a Gold Award in the past two years.

We are a small and happy group and always welcome help with our activities, if you would like to get involved or want to find out more e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
