Spittalfield

In 1994 four members of Spittalfield Village Hall Committee decided to start Spittalfield in Bloom.

Over the years the group has seen many changes and the village has bloomed from a 'lets give it a go' half hearted attempt to 'lets keep our first place' attitude!

The village is set round a village green which gives it a unique appearance in this part of the world -  not unlike many Yorkshire villages and is named after the old 'Spittalfields' market in London.

Many volunteers help water tubs near to them so the work is evenly shared out. The tubs are planted out every spring by the local Cub Group and when it is time for the competition the village as a whole takes part with everyone out doing their own little bit.
