Auchterarder Bloom Association (ABA)
Chairman’s Report
March 2011
2010 to 2011 has been a very busy and successful year for the Auchterarder Bloom Association, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone on the committee, husbands, wives and friends for their hard work and dedication.
With everyone’s help we managed to plant and maintain tubs and hanging baskets in Auchterarder throughout the summer and into the autumn of 2010. We received very positive feedback from local businesses and residents on the colourful plantings and we look forward to increasing the number of displays for 2011. Without various grants and donations we could not have managed all this and our thanks and gratitude go to Perth & Kinross Council, Perth & Kinross Common Good Fund, and Auchterarder Trust Fund. Also, to several local businesses and associations who gave donations to the ABA.
These grants and donations have made it possible for us to buy the plants, replace worn out tubs, refurbish hanging basket stands and seats, and, our biggest purchase to date, buy and equip our own poly tunnel, which will enable us to bring on our own plants and increase the number of displays in 2011.
Looking forward to the coming year. In addition to local fundraising activities we have applied for funding from ‘Awards for All’ and The Scottish Community Foundation. We await news on the success of our application to Awards for All but I can reveal that the SCF have indicated that they will support our application, which is very good news. Also, I can confirm that PKC has increased our grant by 60% for the coming year.
So, 2011 looks to be another busy year for ABA as we continue to grow and establish ourselves in the community.
Many thanks again to everyone and well done.
