Comrie

Comrie in Colour was established in 1994 with a view to enhancing a village of mixed architecture, surrounded by outstanding scenery. The aim was to introduce floral displays and create perennial flower beds in several areas within the village.

A great deal has been achieved in the intervening years with the assistance of a dedicated band of volunteers supported by the community and many contractors and businesses.  Although village enhancement is core to our aims, our remit has widened to include environmental and educational aspects relating to the sustainable development of this community.

April 2009 saw our organisation re-located to a purpose built polytunnel at Cultybraggan Camp.  We now occupy plot 31 of the recently formed   Comrie Allotments. This new location has offered us the opportunity to expand our activities to include regular work sessions with the pupils of the local school and also the adults from Kinnoull Day Opportunities  Centre. Activities include fruit and vegetable growing and out of season workshops making bird and bat boxes.

The village has won many awards over the years and in 2009 after a break of two years, once more achieved "Best Large Village" in the Beautiful Scotland and Take a Pride in Perthshire competitions. This resulted in an invitation to enter Britain in Bloom once more. Comrie was awarded an RHS Gold in 2007 and gained the title of "Best Large Village". Our energies are now concentrated in maintaining the very high standards of previous years and we know we can count on the continuing support from the community.

Comrie in Colour gained the title of Best Large Village for 2010
